Every moment in life was like a stoplight changing yellow. And I was speeding through…

I couldn’t brush my teeth fast enough. I couldn’t do anything fast enough, really. I listened to podcasts on 2x speed. I wasn’t capable of savoring a meal. I was a master multi-tasker; coffee making, podcast listening, laptop loading, social media scrolling, while mentally replaying a conversation from last Tuesday.

What was the rush? Well, it was to get onto the “next thing”, of course. And the next thing, and the thing after that. But the “next thing” never came, and it never does. It’s illusive, always right around the corner, just out of reach, and never gratifying.

A perpetual state of “what’s next?” left me incapable of appreciating “what’s now”.

I was sleepwalking, on autopilot, going through the motions, and I know one day I’ll wake up and wonder where my life went.

So I’m building speedbumps. To slow down, be more present and live more intentionally. Photography is integral to the transformation, not only from the clarity I experience as I’m shooting, but because of the powerful sense of tranquility the images elicit now, and forever.

As you join me at the cross roads of here & now, my hope is these captures will bring you a moment of tranquility, of peace, of uncorrupted stillness as well.
